Frequently asked questions

Everything you need to know about playing in a RecLeaguer event.

Getting Started

9 questions
How old do I have to be to participate?
You must be 19+ by the event start date, no exceptions. Some events may have more restrictive age ranges, so check the event details.
Do I need a team to sign up?
No. Most players register as individuals. We use skill-based team balancing to create fair, competitive teams before the season starts.
What are the different registration options?
All events allow you to sign up as a full participant. You're placed on a team and play all games. Some events also allow you to sign up as a sub. Subs aren't placed on a team and don't pay a registration fee. They're available on a per-game basis to fill in when needed.
Can I request to be on the same team as a friend?
You can request to be placed with one other player. When registering, provide their name in the "note to organizer" field and the organizer will assign you together when possible.
What skill level do I need?
All skill levels are welcome. During registration you'll rate your abilities, and our team balancing algorithm uses those ratings to create evenly matched teams. Whether you're a beginner or experienced, there's a spot for you.
How do I create an account?
Click "Sign Up" in the top right corner. You will need an email address and password. Once registered, you can browse events, manage your profile, and sign up for leagues.
I can't sign in. What should I do?
On the login page, click “Forgot password” to reset via email. If you are still stuck, contact us and we will help you get back in.
How do I know if I am registered for an event?
Sign in and head to My Events. Active registrations show up there. You also get a confirmation email right after registering, so check your inbox if you are unsure.
I missed registration. Can I still sign up?
Sometimes. Spots open up close to the start date when other players drop. If a waiting list is available on the event, join it to hold your place in line. You can also send us a message with the event name and we will let you know if there is room.

Game Day

7 questions
How do I confirm my attendance for a game?
Go to My Games in your account. Each upcoming game has attendance buttons: confirm, decline, or mark as maybe. Please confirm as early as possible so your team captain knows who's coming.
What if I cannot make a game?
Decline the game in My Games as soon as you know. Your team captain can then request a sub to fill your spot.
What should I wear?
When teams are created, they are assigned a unique color. Wear a shirt that closely matches your team color. If you already have one, no need to buy anything new. You can also grab official RecLeaguer gear at our team shop and browse by your team color.
What do I need to bring?
Wear athletic clothing and shoes appropriate for the sport. Most equipment is provided by the organizer, but check the event details for specifics. Bring water and a good attitude.
What happens if a game is cancelled?
If a game is cancelled due to weather or other reasons, the organizer will update the game with a note. You'll see cancelled games highlighted in your schedule.
Where do I find the game schedule?
Your upcoming games appear in My Games after teams are created. You can also view the full schedule on the event page. Add games to your calendar with the calendar sync feature.
I lost something at a game. Can you help?
Check with your team captain or the event organizer first, since most lost items get found. If that turns up nothing, contact us with the event and date and we will track it down.

Teams & Standings

5 questions
How are teams balanced?
Players rate their skill levels during registration. Our AI balances teams based on skill and other factors to create the most competitive and fun matchups.
When are teams announced?
Teams are typically created a few days before the event starts. You'll see your team assignment on the event page and in My Events.
How do standings work?
Standings update automatically after each game. Wins, losses, ties, and point differentials are all tracked on the event page.
Can I be a sub for multiple events?
Yes. You can sign up as a sub for as many events as you like. When a team needs a fill-in, you'll receive a notification and can accept or decline.
What is a walk-up song?
For baseball and softball events, you can pick a walk-up song from Spotify in your profile. At events that are set up for it, your song might play as you step up to bat. A fun touch when it works out.

Payments & Refunds

9 questions
What payment methods are accepted?
We accept all major credit and debit cards through Stripe. Payment is collected during registration.
Can I pay with cash instead of online?
We do not accept cash. All payments go through Stripe at registration so we can keep records and confirm spots automatically. If online payment is a problem, contact us and we will help.
What if I can't afford the registration fee?
Cost should never keep you off the field. We offer scholarships and reduced-rate spots for players who need them. Reach out and we will work something out.
Can I get a refund?
Full refunds are available if you cancel your registration at least 7 days before the event start date. No refunds are issued after that deadline. Refunds are processed to your original payment method and typically take 5 to 10 business days to appear on your statement.
What happens if an event is cancelled?
If an event is cancelled due to low participation or venue availability, all paid participants will receive a full refund of their registration fees.
What if multiple games are cancelled due to weather?
Partial refunds to all participants may be issued in the event of multiple game cancellations due to weather or circumstances outside of our control.
Can I get a refund for an injury?
Refund requests due to injury or medical reasons after the 7-day deadline are reviewed on a case-by-case basis. Contact the event organizer or reach out to us through the contact page.
Is there a fee for subs?
No. Subs register for free and play on a per-game basis when a team needs a fill-in.
Are there any promo codes or discounts?
Some events offer promo codes or early-bird discounts. Check the event details or follow us on social media for announcements.
