Our Story
It started with wanting to preserve a community. Then it became so much more.
Four friends, Dan, Danielle, Ellen, and Missy, met playing softball in the Twin Cities. When the league organizer decided to move on, none of them wanted to see the community they had built fall apart.
What they loved was simple. A team sport you could join as an individual, perfect if you were new in town, like Missy. Low stakes, all skill levels, and teams that mixed up so you got to know everyone. They decided to keep it going.
RecLeaguer launched with a four-week trial season. When everything checked out, three full softball leagues kicked off in St. Paul, Richfield, and Mounds View. The mix of old friends and new faces was exactly what they had hoped for.
All three leagues continued through summer and fall, growing the community with every season. Players kept coming back, and bringing friends.
"I just want to play old gym games with friends!" said Danielle. And so Adult P.E. was born: dodgeball, parachute, scooters, relays, and tag. The joy, willingness to play, and nonstop laughter made it an instant hit.
Soccer joined the lineup. Players loved the casual, friendly atmosphere. Competitive enough to be fun, relaxed enough that everyone felt welcome.
Volleyball arrived just in time for the colder months, giving the community another way to stay active indoors.
The RecLeaguer Team Shop launched, giving players a way to rep their community on and off the field. Because nothing says "I belong" like matching gear.
A cornhole fundraiser tournament brought the community together for a great cause, and proved that RecLeaguer players will show up for just about any game you put in front of them.
The first-ever Dodgeball Tournament was a hit. Fast-paced, chaotic, and full of laughs. Exactly the kind of energy RecLeaguer is all about.
Futsal and indoor soccer expanded the winter lineup, keeping the community moving year-round regardless of Minnesota weather.
Pickleball joined the roster, adding the fastest-growing sport in America to the RecLeaguer lineup. Another way to play, another reason to show up.
From one softball league to a multi-sport community across the Twin Cities. Thousands of players. Countless friendships. Six sports and growing. And we are just getting started.
