Special Olympics Minnesota's 2023 Summer Sports Classic Softball and Bocce competitions are being held on August 19th and we are looking for volunteers to help make the day happen! We as a RecLeaguer community will be volunteering as a group! Come join us for what will be an amazing day!
Those that sign up with receive an email from Ellen Weber with more details at the beginning of June!
No experience? No problem! A detailed training is given at the beginning of each shift. You're welcome to sign up for any of the following roles
Bocce:
General Event Support:
Check in and welcome athletes, teams, and volunteers. Volunteers will also fill in other spots or jump in to help where needed. They may have a shorter shift than scheduled. This is a great role for someone who is flexible and a self starter!
Bocce Pitch Assistant: Officiate and score the bocce game. There will be staff to help with any questions throughout the games!
Awards Announcer: Announce names and places of athletes during award ceremony.
Awards Assistants: Organize and prepare awards for athletes. At least one assistant will work as runner, brining athletes from lanes to awards area.
Softball:

Scorekeeper/Field Announcer: Keep scorebook during game. Announce the batting lineup.
Umpire: Officiate the game. Must understand basic softball rules, will be trained in beforehand for Special Olympic specifics.
Skills Assistants: Lead athletes through different stations. Score athletes at each station.
